Winter hikes
Winter holidays somewhat differently… instead of ski trails, on cross-country winter hikes; instead of bustle, the quiet of snowed woodlands. Here and there, the encounter with a deer, the tracks of foxes and hares, and lots and lots of good air. Total recuperation!
Snowshoe hikes
The new trend sport in winter! Those who have tried out rambling with \"giant flat feet\" know why: with snow shoes one experiences winter in its purest form, from time to time conquering stretches of powder-snow at a run and reaching peaks formerly reserved for ski tourers. One can attain the heights – and be rewarded on South Tyrol’s peaks with a grandiose panorama. There are opportunities for snow shoe rambling in Schnalstal or in Martelltal.
Sledging
Sledging has served the Alpine population as a means of transport in snow since primeval times. As an extreme sport discipline in artificial ice channels, sledging becomes a \"spectacle\". On the other hand, sledging in South Tyrol is much more pleasant. A merry sledging party includes the ascent by foot and the pause in a rustic hostelry on the way. Sledge on the line and off to a lively sled-ride! You will find sledging tracks in the nearby Schnalstal, in the Martelltal and at Meran 2000.
Cross-country skiing
Gliding through the snow-covered landscape, the winter sun at your back – cross-country skiing in South Tyrol is good for body and soul. The fans of this winter sport can choose between around 1,800 kilometres of ski-tracks: Whether classic or in skating step, whether a round route or a rambling tour, the right ski-track is here for everybody. The nearest cross-country ski-tracks are found in Schnalstal and Martelltal.
